She said YES!!!
I knew I wanted to marry ReAnn soon after we started dating. I know of very few people in high school who are ready to get married, including myself. ReAnn and I dated through high school and the first two years of college, until I felt I couldn't possibly wait any longer to ask the girl of my dreams to be my wife.

Moving away to Johnson City proved to be a crucible of sorts for our relationship. I knew this would be one of the most challenging seasons we had gone through as a couple, because we had never lived more than ten minutes away from each other. Instead of pushing us apart, living away from ReAnn made me realize just how badly I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. I went with my dad to find the perfect ring in Knoxville while she was busy leading a small group for the church's DiscipleNow weekend so she would have no idea that I was ready to buy a ring.

The plan was to propose in downtown Knoxville at midnight on New Year's Eve while taking couples' pictures at Krutch Park. We didn't make it to midnight. After sharing dinner with some friends at 9:00p, we went to an outdoor concert on Market Square. We couldn't handle how cold it had gotten, so we went to get hot chocolate at a nearby bistro. It was only 10:15, and my friend and I were playing hot potato with this ring, worried that ReAnn would find it sticking out of one of our pockets. Deciding that it was way too cold to stay any longer, we decided to take pictures before leaving Market Square and welcoming the new year indoors. We took one or two normal pictures when ReAnn felt me dropping to my knee. She looked at me, incredibly confused as I tried to fish the ring box out of my pocket with my oversized winter gloves. I asked her if she would marry me. "No! No no no no no!" She collapsed onto me, pushing me from my knee to the concrete, still working the box from my pocket. she realized that her only answer so far had been "no," so she quickly corrected herself with the official "YES!!"
